Founder’s Note: The Rigor of Proof and the Origin of Genuspedia

Genealogy is not the simple act of tracing names on a canvas; it is the discipline of proving historical truth against the scrutiny of time and defending it against enemies such as ego, mythomania, and the fabrication of lineages.

For those of us who have grown up under the generational understanding that respect for blood and lineage is not a whim, but a historical responsibility, errors in this matter are not mere oversights, but offenses against the truth. Aristocracy and legitimate nobility have never consisted of the vanity of titles, but of the inescapable burden of guarding a legacy with absolute rigor.

During decades of professional practice as a genealogist, author, and researcher, I faced an inescapable dilemma. Commercial platforms and public repositories had democratized access to documents, but at the expense of rigor. These tools, designed for volume and mass consumption, lacked the necessary architecture to support the weight demanded by high-level genealogy.

To a common researcher, an indexing error is an inconvenience; to one who understands the historical weight of a lineage, a documentary falsehood or a desourced folio shatters the chain of proof.

The methodological rigor required for the research and publication of my work De Nobleza Inmemorial: Genealogía y poder en los linajes de Nueva Galicia, Nueva España y el obispado de Michoacán laid bare the fact that the standard my work demanded simply did not exist in the market.
